(Quick) Update #45 - Last 48 hours for surveys. Cards will be charged on Friday, Aug 9th.
over 5 years ago – Mon, Aug 05, 2019 at 02:11:59 PM

Hey everybody!

The backer surveys are now set to auto-lock in 48 hours. This was to allow for a final notice to be pushed out via BackerKit to reach those last few remaining people and give those who maybe were not following these updates a chance to make any last minute changes. I wanted to lock them today as discussed in the previous update, but after thinking on the matter over the weekend, I figured this was the best course of action. Especially since (I'll be honest in admitting that) I didn't actually know you could do the final notifications through BackerKit with an auto-lock option. This should allow me to also be available throughout the week as much as possible to assist with any last minute questions.

Thank you so much for your patience with the delays. In return, we are giving you until this Friday, August 9th, to make sure you have the necessary funds available before we charge the cards for any required funds for shipping and add-ons. This will happen around 12pm Noon MDT that day.

I will be contacting all backers within the month at the Vice Admiral and above tiers to start finalizing your custom design rewards (such as NPC's).

Thanks,

Project Lead Spirit

(Quick) Update #44 - Survey Lock Delay
over 5 years ago – Fri, Aug 02, 2019 at 09:58:22 PM

Hey everybody,

Some of you may have noticed that the previous update said the surveys would lock on August 1st, and as of this post, it's August 2nd but the surveys still aren't locked. Unfortunately I had somethings come up this weekend that took me away from home and I still haven't gotten back just yet. As such, surveys will now lock on the 5th of August at 3pm MDT. This time it's for certain, though, I promise you that, as I should be back by then in order to handle it.

I deeply apologize for this, and can assure you this won't cause any delays to the project itself.

Update #43 - Final Hours for Backer Surveys & Quick July Update
over 5 years ago – Wed, Jul 31, 2019 at 08:54:44 PM

Hello everybody,

Just a reminder that backer surveys were set to lock today, but since they still aren't at 100%, we're give you around 24 hours from this post. They will officially lock at 3pm MDT tomorrow, August 1st.

I will also be sending out reminder emails to those last few remaining folks who have not completed the survey, so if you get one of these reminders, please complete your survey or you will be unable to receive your final product when shipping begins.

Now, time for a quick update for July. Progress this month hit a standstill while I was out of town for a large portion of the month. With the start of August I will be kicking us into a bit of overdrive to try and make up for the lost time. As of right now, this should not cause any further delays to the project as a whole.

With that said, I have been able to get a bit more of the equipment art pieces done. There may be an update in the near future (either August or September) to show off a small portion of this art and give you all an idea of the sort of equipment in the game.

Onward to August! See you in the next update!

Update #42 - Reminder to Complete Your Backer Surveys/Card Charge Date Set
over 5 years ago – Sun, Jun 30, 2019 at 12:24:27 AM

Hey everybody,

The final survey lock date is coming up - July 31st - and there are still 8 backers who have not completed the survey. This is a reminder to do so if you have not, and to finalize any remaining changes you want to make before they lock.

After the surveys lock, cards will be charged on August 1st for shipping costs and any add-ons you may have selected during the surveys.

Again, our new project release date is now November of this year, 2019, so things won't actually ship immediately upon the cards getting charged. The are only going to be charged now in order to (hopefully) not catch anyone off guard by us delaying it. On that note, please ensure you have sufficient funds on your accounts by the charge date.

If for any reason your survey is not completed when they lock, or if your card fails to charge correctly, you will not be able to receive any product until any errors have been corrected. If somehow this happens to you, you will be able to email us at [email protected].

We've also decided that it is at this point we will continue to press forward again in regards to working with our backers who are getting things like NPCs to start finalizing these rewards. So if you are one of these backers, keep an eye open for new messages around then!

With all of that said, keep your eyes open for a small project update for July later on this month. We'll see ya then!

Update #41 - June Update and Delay Announcement
over 5 years ago – Tue, Jun 18, 2019 at 11:51:32 PM

Hello Everybody,

Well, only a handful of updates this month for you guys, including an important delay announcement.

First off, progress has been slow but steady. The mechanics are still being compiled from separate notes into a single cohesive rules document. Also, we are still trying to sort out the remaining art pieces that need to get done.

Beyond that, further play testing has revealed some balancing issues that we've had to make changes for. Some of these changes are minor (such as armor bonus balance changes), but there is one fairly major change that is worth mentioning.

We noticed that critical failures were way too prevalent compared to the critical successes.  Further analysis showed it was simply a statistical probability issue. For example, on a D12, there was a 1 in 12 chance to critically fail, but 1 in 144 chance to critically succeed. This was a major disparity in the odds for either. In order to remedy this, we've now made critical fails happen only when a 1 is rolled after a dice has exploded. This makes the odds to either critically fail or succeed even. It also means now that when a 1 is rolled on the first roll of a dice it is a bit more forgiving, though can still lead to failure if you don't reach your target number.

Finally, our important announcement:

We've decided to delay the final release, pushing it from the originally projected August release back to November of this year. This will give us an additional 3 months to get things better sorted out (such as with the art) and to further refine our mechanics. We don't like having to delay, but we want to be sure we do our best to release a product that both we and you can be happy with. We hope this will be the only delay, but if something else comes up, we will be sure to notify you all via another update. For now, though, we'll keep plugging away at it!

We'll see you all in next month's update, if not before some time!
